[Wei Wuxian stares at the gifts in surprise and starts to rummage through them. He laughs softly at all the fox items. He then picks up the jar of lotus and opens it, starting to snack on them as he flips through the album. he feels a little pain in his heart at seeing the photos but it also makes him smile.]
Lan Zhan! Why do you keep giving me gifts?
[He doesn't know if his husband is actually home to hear him yell at him.]
"Shh, I am here. Be quiet. Don't yell." Of course he is home. Throughout the house, every room is dark as electricity no longer work throughout the town, so in their bedroom a single candle and incense is lit.
Lan Wangji is more or less grouchy and trying to get some rest. Sleep comes little. He spent the last two weeks boarding up the house over the windows, adding heavy duty locks to the doors, and hammering it for extra protection to defend against an potential attack. Then running to stock up food and supplies before the shelves become empty and the townspeople lock up and board their stores for the good of the month. Then running to get extra incense sticks and gather as much as he could before there's a shortage. Incense can be found burning in some of the rooms.
By the time the morning of October comes, he was exhausted. But more or less, he can afford to relax a little when he discovered Sodder fulfilled his requests, so the animals are safe. "I want you to have it. We're supposed to be married today, but...outside doesn't look so good. It's night, when I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be morning. There's some mooncakes if you want some. Today is the mid-autumn festival."
Not only that, his tattoo started to throb in pain like needles stuck in his skin, and from his arm started to bleed that he wrapped a dressing gauze around it to keep from bleeding.
He turns to the other man when he hears his voice. Wei Wuxian doesn't sleep well normally so he didn't notice any different in any other night. Although sleeping better since being able to sleep against Lan Wangji, nightmares are still a regular thing. But he knows that for Lan Wangji that is very different and he grows concerned when he hears the edge the man's voice.
"My tattoo?" He unties his upper layer so that he can look at the tattoo that is placed over his heart. He reaches up to touch it, noticing the ache and pulls his hand away to see a little blood coming from it.
He sighed, he doesn't like his clothes getting dirty. It's hard washing the stains out when he does the laundry. "You'll find first aid and medical supplies in the bathroom. I sorted it out neatly."
At his question, "Oh the foxes? Because they remind me of you. There's a pair hiding out in our house because it's getting scary for the animals to live outside. They're clever and intelligent. And I think it's fitting for you."
Meanwhile, Lan Wangji's set is a rabbit theme set with rabbit pillows, rabbit blankets, and rabbit bedsheets. "If you like, you can fix the bed and try your fox set."
He laughs again and shakes his head, "Let me go clean this first and then we can have whatever sheets you want." He knows he should be more concerned about what is going on around them but whenever Lan Wangji gives him gifts it just puts him in a good mood regardless of what might be going on around them.
He gives him another kiss and then goes off to clean and dress the tattoo so that it doesn't make a mess on his clothing or start getting worse.
He's glad he's pleased with the gift. He sacrificed quite a lot to get the things he needs. Seeing his laughs and smiles are worth, despite how intense the town is becoming during this month. He can't imagine what outside is like, but seeing outside, it looks like a nightmare of endless night. Which he hoped to keep Wei Ying out of it for as long as he could. Last month they were happy, and even if their wedding is delayed, if they survived this, then a delay wouldn't hurt.
When Wei Ying comes out all clean and taken care of, "Let's fix the bed with your fox set. I think it would look cute with all the foxes. I can bring the real ones in here if you want. They are hiding in one of the rooms."
"Our house is slowly becoming a farm." Between the arrival of the ghosts and all the other animals they have started to accumulate, he is starting to wonder how they ever manage to keep up with everything. He brings the new sheets over to the bed and sets them down on the table next to it so that he can start removing the old ones.
"If they are scared you should leave them be. They will come out on their own when they are ready."
"Mn. All right. Let's fix the bed now." Lan Wangji helps removes the blanket, sheets, and pillowcases to strip the bed bare, and then folds them up to put them away in the closet for storage.
Leaving Wei Wuxian to fix his new blanket, bedsheets, and pillowcases with the fox prints for the bed.
It's a fox theme bed, and Lan Wangji doesn't mind. From the fox shaped pillows and pillowcases, and the blanket. It looks comfy. There's only the fox onsie he hasn't tried it on, but maybe later.
"Looks comfortable. Do you want to take a nap on it?"
"I just woke up." He laughs and plops down on it. He's not opposed to being lazy in bed though. He rolls onto his back and stretches out. "It's comfortable too."
It's very soft as it looks so Lan Wangji hops on the bed to curl up on it. "Mn. I need a nap. I hardly get any sleep last week. I boarded up our house, and fixed the barn, and taking stock for food."
With a yawn, he needs to sleep for a little while. "Whatever you do, don't go out Wei Ying. There's no sun, only night. There are two moons that look like eyes, and I heard people are going crazy if you look at the moon and there are monster dogs roam the street. I have to kill one that wandered in our backyard."
Closing his eyes, he gives him a kiss. "You can take care of the horses. The door to the barn is connected to the kitchen. If you need to eat, check the fridge."
He said dogs and that is enough to make Wei Wuxian freeze up. He rolls over and curls up with Lan Wangji. If there are dogs out there then he is definitely not going outside. But the rest of it is interesting and he will have to do some investigating later. But for now he is content to just lay here for awhile.
"I'll wait until you are sleeping and then I'll take care of everything."
"Mn. It happens again. Outside, everything changes, and for the worst. If anyone needs help or protection, you can let them in." He said.
As he drifts off, feeling his husband close. "Keep the incense burning. Incense protects the house from monsters. There's incense in the barn also. We don't have much water, so drink water if you have to." Since the water turns out to blood unless he puts incense next to it. "You can find incense in my study room."
"Mn, I feel so tired." He murmured as he feels himself drifting off, closing his eyes.
"Don't worry Lan Zhan. Just sleep." Wei wuxian is going to experiment with things while the other man is sleeping even if he tells him about it. He closes his eyes so that he can rest a little bit until he goes and checks out everything that Lan Wangji was talking about.
"If those monster dogs wander close, let me know. Bichen will glow blue. It will sense a monster close by."
That's all the instructions he can think of. With the last yawn, he finally sleeps curling up with his husband. If only for a few short hours, sleep will not come easy for everyone this month.
